Champion Fight Nights Dmitry Bikrev believes Nate Diaz doesn’t have much of a chance of winning Khamzat Chimaeva in one-on-one battles.
The fight will take place at UFC 279 in Paradise, Nevada on September 11.
The general consensus going into this fight is that Diaz doesn’t stand a chance. What do you think?
— There’s always a chance, even the most desperate underdog can win. I wouldn’t say nobody believes in Diaz. Several stars have bet on him, there is a good rating. I would give 5-10% for Diaz to win.
“What is that five or ten percent?”
“If Hamzat doesn’t finish Diaz in the first three rounds, he’ll be in trouble. Nate fought hard and narrowly missed Edwards in the fifth round. Khamzat, due to the brilliant struggle of the first rounds, begins to breathe badly.
– Before the fight between Chimaev and Burns, you said that Burns was mentally sagging. Diaz is not afraid of anyone. Will this factor play a role?
– Burns had a chance to “prepare” Chimaev, but he did not believe in himself and was afraid. I think Diaz is going to give up the fight and not resist because he defends well on the court. He has a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. I think in the first laps he will survive, then he will start to light up,” quotes “RB Sport” Bikrev.
This will be the last fight under Nate Diaz, 37,’s current contract with the UFC. He has 20 wins and 13 losses in MMA. Chimaev, 28, has had 11 fights and 11 wins.
