Lomachenko: I need a fight for the title of absolute world champion

Ukrainian wants to fight Devin Haney

Former three-division world champion Vasily Lomachenko said he was waiting for the opportunity to fight with the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.

“I am preparing for this moment. I need this chance, I need a fight for the title of absolute champion.

Recall that the Ukrainian boxer will return to the ring on October 29. Lomachenko’s fight with Jemaine Ortiz will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.

Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight with George Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier, promoter Bob Arum said he was ready to organize a fight for the title of undisputed lightweight champion between Lomachenko and the winner of the rematch Devin Haney – George Kambosos Jr. in early 2023. The second fight between Haney and Kambosos will take place on October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
