Fury-Joshua talks put on hold due to UK mourning

Negotiations will resume next week

Promoter Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) Frank Warren stated that talks about a possible fight between his client and the ex-champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) Suspended due to death Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

“Tyson and I think it makes sense now. It would be disrespectful to the royal family,” Warren said.

According to insider Michael Benson, negotiations will resume next week.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said Fury and Joshua are unlikely to take place in 2022.

Recently, Fury reached out to Anthony Joshua twice via social media and offered him a fight. Tyson also stressed that he was ready to provide a chance for Anthony to take possession of the WBC belt.

Joshua accepted Tyson Fury’s offer. The boxer also agrees to the distribution of the fee 60 to 40 in favor of the current world champion. Boxers are considering three dates for the fight – November 26, December 3 and December 17.

In August, Joshua lost by split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury defeated Dillian Whyte ahead of schedule in April of this year, after which he announced his retirement twice. At the same time, Tyson has not yet vacated the WBC championship belt.
