Lomachenko vs Ortiz will take place on October 29 in New York
American lightweight boxer Jemaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight against the former world champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs).
“I’m excited about this fight. Vasyl Lomachenko is a great fighter, but I am here to win. As soon as I win this fight, I will look for the opportunity to win the world title. It’s a dream come true,” Ortiz said.
The Lomachenko-Ortiz fight will take place on October 29 at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.
In the last fight, 26-year-old Ortiz defeated Jamel Herring via unanimous decision.
If Lomachenko wins, he is looking forward to a fight with undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney. It is reported that Haney and his father are interested in fighting Vasily. Before that, the American will have a rematch with former champion George Kambosos Jr. on the night of October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Lomachenko had his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight with George Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
