Usyk: Who would I like to fight next? With Wilder

The fight could take place in early 2023 in the US

WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk said that his next opponent could be the former world champion Deontay Wilder.

“Who would I like to fight next? With Deontay Wilder. He is a dangerous fighter and this fight will most likely take place in the United States.”

Usyk said he’ll most likely be ringside when Wilder, the former WBC champion, takes on Robert Helenius on October 8 in Brooklyn.

Usyk also commented on a possible fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

“I don’t have much feelings about the Fury-Joshua fight. I don’t care if Fury wants to fight anyone. My team is working to get me back in the ring.

“And no, I’m not angry at all (for Fury passing me for Joshua). The big problem is that Tyson Fury is preventing fans from seeing one of the best fights in boxing history. It’s his fault. Not mine. So I’m not angry at all. Fury can fight anyone.

“From a sporting point of view, of course it’s not right (for Fury to fight Joshua instead of him).”

According to Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas, if Joshua beats Fury, there will be a rematch that will push back any possibility of Fury ever facing Usyk in 2023. Klimas also said that Usyk’s team will not “chase Tyson Fury and Usyk will return in early 2023 against the winner of the Wilder-Helenius fight.”

Earlier it became known that Fury had two offers to fight Usyk, but he rejected them.

In his last fight for the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Alexander defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.

Immediately after defeating Anthony in a rematch, Usyk challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury to a fight. In turn, the Gypsy King demands 500 million dollars for a unification fight with the Ukrainian.
