The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the poisoning of a group of karateka at a sports training camp in the Dmitrov district of Moscow region. On this subject reported press service of the central committee of the investigation commission of the region.
Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation under Article No. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products, performance of works or provision of services not compliant with safety requirements).
According to the investigation, on September 13, seven contestants went to the doctor with signs of food poisoning. They were treated and discharged from the hospital without hospitalisation. Currently, there is no threat to their life and health.
Investigators inspected all the premises, taking water and food samples. Rospotrebnadzor employees will take samples of products consumed by athletes for food and send them for examination.
Interrogations are in progress and the necessary documents have been requested. All the circumstances and reasons for the incident are established.
