Fury vs Joshua could take place later this year
Promoter Eddie Hearn explained why the ex-world champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) so eager to fight the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs).
“Joshua thinks this is his only chance, because if Fury fights Usyk, then no matter the result, Tyson will retire. And his fight with Fury will never happen again.
“If the Fury team is serious, I think the fight will take place. I think George Warren’s plan is to fight. But you just never know what’s going on in Fury’s head. Either this is a ploy to speed up the fight with Usyk, or a desire to get more money.
Fury twice reached out to Joshua via social media and offered him a fight. Anthony accepted Fury’s offer.
Joshua also agrees to a 60/40 distribution of the fee to the reigning world champion. Boxers are considering three dates for the fight – November 26, December 3 and December 17.
Recall that Joshua was in 6th place in the updated WBC rankings. The rating allows the WBC to recognize Joshua as a voluntary challenger for Tyson Fury’s championship belt.
