Haney: I’ve been pushing Lomachenko for years, it’s going to be a big fight

Also, the American considers Isaac Cruz as a future rival

Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin haney said that in the near future he wants to meet in the ring with the ex-world champion Vasily Lomachenko. Among potential future rivals, the American also considers the Mexican boxer Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz.

“This is a fight that I would love. I’ve been wooing Loma for years. This is a very big fight, but it will all be after October 15th.”

“Loma is definitely on my hit list. I don’t think “Tank” Davis wants to fight me. Look at his track record, he doesn’t want to fight anyone.

Teofimo Lopez – maybe in the future, but right now he’s at 140 and I plan to stay at 135. I would love a fight with “Pitbull” Cruz. I love his style, he puts a lot of pressure, I love those kind of fighters.”

Earlier, promoter Bob Arum announced his desire to organize a fight between Lomachenko and Haney. To do this, both boxers must win their next fights. The American will have a rematch with former champion George Kambosos Jr. on the night of October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Lomachenko had his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight with Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vasily Lomachenko will return to the ring on October 29 at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York. The opponent of the Ukrainian will be Jamaine Ortiz.
