Golovkin: I have big plans. I have middleweight belts and I’m still a champion

Gennady has never won against Canelo

Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin commented on his defeat in a fight with the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“I want to shake hands with Canelo. Thanks to his team. He is a real warrior. Despite the defeat, I have big plans. As a reminder, I have three middleweight belts and I’m still a champion.”

Recall that today in Las Vegas, Alvarez defeated Golovkin by unanimous decision and defended his titles. All judges gave Canelo the win – 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.

For the Mexican, this victory was the 58th in his career. Golovkin, in turn, suffered a second defeat.

This was the third fight between the rivals. The first fight in September 2017 ended in a draw. A year later, the Mexican won by split decision.
