Head of FSSR Mamiashvili expressed his gratitude to Belarusian President Lukashenko for organizing the tournament in Minsk

Head of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSSR) Mikhail Mamiashvili told that the Alexander Medved Prize Grand Prix in Minsk was held at the highest level, for which Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko should be thanked.

The Minsk tournament is named after three-time Olympic champion and seven-time freestyle world champion Alexander Medved and was held for the 51st time.

– In 1984, I became the champion of the USSR in this palace and qualified for the Friendship Games, which were held instead of the Olympic Games. As always, a deep bow to the leader of Belarus, Mr. Lukashenka because he loves the country, the people – everywhere cleanliness, order. The highest level of the tournament, everyone was satisfied.

But the quality of the tournament itself unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired. But nevertheless, Kyrgyz and Kazakhs are already performing in our country.

I’m sure we will qualify for the Paris Olympics in all sports. I would like sports facilities to be built for Olympic sports, but some of them do not have the necessary infrastructure,” Mamiashvili told .

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended at the end of February to the federations to prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in international competitions because of the situation in Ukraine. Many federations followed the recommendations and suspended athletes from both countries.
