“Golovkin didn’t seem like he wanted to win the fight with Alvarez” – Kurbanov

First middleweight Russian boxer Magomed Kurbanov believes that the Kazakh Gennady Golovkin did nothing to win the third fight with the Mexican Saul Alvarez.

The third fight between Alvarez and Golovkin took place in Las Vegas on Sunday morning Moscow time. The Mexican defended his WBO, IBF, WBA and WBC super middleweight titles, winning by unanimous decision. In May, Alvarez suffered the second loss of his career against Russian Dmitry Bivol.

– Golovkin was very surprised – he did absolutely nothing, he had no time for anything. Can’t say Canelo did what he wanted, but he did the trick. Golovkin didn’t seem to want to win, or he really didn’t have time. And Canelo came back after the defeat. But in this way, he will definitely not win a rematch with Bivol. This I can say with certainty. Canelo didn’t surprise anything – he didn’t show anything new. Maybe he was breathing better than in the fight with Bivol. Canelo was all the same. It’s just that Golovkin didn’t take any risks, he didn’t cut himself much,” Kurbanov told .

Golovkin holds the IBF, IBO and WBA middleweight championship belts.

Previously, the athletes met in the ring in 2017 and 2018. The first fight ended in a draw, and Alvarez won the second fight by split decision.
