Wilder: I’d be surprised if I’m not inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame after five years

Deontay will fight Finn Helenius on October 8

Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder expressed hope to enter the Boxing Hall of Fame in the next five years.

“I think I already deserve to be in it [Зале боксерской славы]. I already know that when these five years pass and I retire, I will automatically enter the Boxing Hall of Fame. If not, I’ll be very surprised.”

Wilder previously offered to fight WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Alexander Usyk. Deontay said that the team of WBC champion Tyson Fury deliberately overestimated the fee for the duel with the Ukrainian.

In addition, Wilder’s manager Shelley Finkel emphasized that his client is open to Usyk and has already received an offer to fight the Ukrainian.

Deontay plans to return to the ring on October 15th. The American will fight against the Finnish boxer Robert Helenius (34-3, 20 KOs).
