Yuri Zakhareev gave duplicate gold medal European Championship 2022. At the continental championship in Yerevan, the Ukrainian boxer won bronze in the weight category up to 71 kg, losing in the semifinals to British Mohammed Harris Akbar.
“At the initiative of the President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine, Kirill Shevchenko, the organizers of the European Championship 2022 made a duplicate of the gold medal of the championship for our champion.
In the semi-finals of the European Championship, our champion was robbed by the judges, which was recognized by all the commissions that considered the scandalous result of this fight. Unfortunately, the protests at this championship were abolished, so there were no legal decisions to return the victory to our boxer. In protest, the entire Ukrainian team entered the ring and spent the whole night in it, ”the Boxing Federation of Ukraine said on Instagram.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian side achieved the removal of the judges of the semifinal fight of the European Championship with the participation of Yuri Zakhareev.
Recall that last year Zakhareev won the gold medal of the world championship in Belgrade in the light middle weight.
