Carnation: I will hope to return in November

The boxer still has no options with a possible opponent

Former light heavyweight world champion Alexander Gvozdyk commented on the situation with his return to the ring. The Ukrainian stressed that he hopes to resume his career in November.

“I train 1-2 times a day, now I spar with Ramirez, but to say that I am doing a full-fledged camp is not, because there is no date or opponent yet. Therefore, it is pointless to start it now.”

“At first I was hoping to fight at the end of October. In principle, it is still possible, but from my own experience, I no longer believe in it.”

“Let’s hope for November. It’s also unclear on the opponent, I would like to have some kind of comeback fight to understand where I am in relation to my state, and also to understand whether this idea is good in general, because I try to always be realistic.

“I don’t have a contract with promoters, now I’m a free agent, I’m looking for other opportunities. Motivation to return to the ring? Again I will surprise everyone with my difference from others: in the first place is money, but very deep in my head there is an idea that I can still do something in boxing … I used to have a lot of things to do, but now I have a lot of free time. Why not? If the question was only about money, I would not come back.”

Gvozdyk became world champion in 2018 by defeating Adonis Stevenson. After that, Alexander had one successful title defense.

Gvozdyk retired in the summer of 2020. The Ukrainian fought his last fight in the fall of 2019, losing to Artur Beterbiev by technical knockout in the tenth round.
