The American is primarily aimed at the duel with Robert Helenius
Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder gladly accepted the news that the holder of the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO titles Oleksandr Usyk plans to attend his duel with Finn Robert Helenius on October 15th. The American is ready to take the chance to have a title fight with the Ukrainian.
“This is music to my ears. I consider Usyk a very decent person and a man of his word. So I’m looking forward to it.”
“It’s good to know that Usyk will be in the arena. Welcome to a great show. And to all the fans, welcome to a great show for all who watch and attend, but I don’t look past Robert.
“I have blessed many boxers with title shots during my reign. Usyk now has the opportunity to bless me, it’s a wonderful feeling. So we fight on October 15th and then we’ll see what happens. I have a lot of plans, a lot of options in the work… But when it comes to a title fight, you need to grab it when the opportunity presents itself.
Earlier, Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s manager, said the boxer was open to Usyk’s offer. Promoter Eddie Hearn said he doesn’t see Usyk losing even a round to Deontay, but at the same time, Wilder has the ability to create problems for everyone.
In his last fight for the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Alexander defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.
The Ukrainian said that Wilder could become his next opponent. The fight could take place in the US. Usyk plans to watch the fight between Wilder and Robert Helenius on October 15 in Brooklyn.
