Majority of federations voted against re-elections
Russian Umar Kremlev will remain President of the International Boxing Association (I.B.A.). At the extraordinary congress of the organization in Yerevan voted against re-election president.
106 federations voted against holding re-elections, 36 in favor, 4 abstained.
Recall that the extraordinary congress was held due to the fact that the candidate for the post of head of the IBA, Boris van der Voorst, successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) his exclusion from participation in the elections at the Congress in Istanbul in May. Then Kremlev was re-elected president of the IBA. He was the only candidate in the elections.
Earlier, the interim nomination committee of the Independent Boxing Integrity Unit (BIIU) cleared charges against Kremlin, who was accused of violations in the election of the head of the IBA. Kremlev was suspected of campaigning outside the election period.
Recall that the President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Prodivus joined the Board of Directors of the IBA.
