Sergey Letunov, master of boxing sports, who worked as a fight referee Alexandra Emelianenko With Vyacheslav Datsik told he called it quits.
Referee Andrey Kurnyavka recorded a knockout in the 13th second and did not open the scoring. Almost at the time of Emelianenko’s downfall, his second MMA fighter, Ivan Shtyrkov, ran into the ring.
– Didn’t you have the feeling that Shtyrkov appeared before the official stoppage of the fight?
– When a person falls face down, it is usually a deep knockout. There is such a trend. Especially if a person does not expose their hands for landing safety. In other words, it was a 100% knockout. I myself did not see this gesture, but, apparently, the referee Kurnyavka showed that he would not open the score and needed help. Because the referee has such an opportunity – if he sees that there may be a danger to the boxer’s health, he does not open the score, but shows with his hands that the fight is over. If the knockout is deep, the referee cannot open the scoring.
And in the corner of Emelianenko there were athletes, they saw and know how people fall, so, most likely, they began to help him.
– Is it up to the referee to open an account or to immediately show that the fight is over?
– Yes. The referee can even stop the count at any time if he finds that the boxer is in a dangerous state.
– What does the Datsik vs. Emelianenko fight look like to you?
– Probably, I don’t see so much sports component in it, there is not enough boxing and there are more shows. On the other hand, everything that boxing popularizes is good. In addition, Datsik switched to the sports component, he has already started to put up good fights. According to Alexander’s technique, we didn’t see a single action at all. He missed in 10 seconds, and even his condition could not be assessed. And Vyacheslav adds from fight to fight, a feature already appears, a thought. There is even interest in him from a sporting point of view.
Vyacheslav Datsik and Alexander Emelianenko are best known as MMA fighters, where together they had over 50 professional fights. In boxing, this was the third official entry into the ring for Emelianenko and the second for Vyacheslav Datsik. The fighters were 41 at the time of the tournament.
