Joyce knocked out Parker and became interim WBO champion
After the victory over the former world champion Joseph Parker (30-3, 21 KOs) British heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) challenged the Ukrainian WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).
“Who is next? Usyk if he wants to meet face to face again. Usyk, let’s get started.”
Recall that Joyce knocked out Parker and became the interim WBO heavyweight champion. Usyk, who holds the WBO belt, will now be required to defend his title with Joyce.
Joyce previously revealed that he wants to fight Usyk. He also wants to take revenge from the Ukrainian for the defeat in the semi-professional World Series of Boxing (WSB), which he suffered in 2013.
In his last fight for the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Alexander defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.
Immediately after defeating Anthony in a rematch, Usyk challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury to a fight. Recall, Usyk said that the duel with Fury in December is impossible.
Later, the Ukrainian said that Deontay Wilder could become his next opponent. The fight could take place in the US.
Usyk also said that he could have three more big fights in his career.
