Joyce: I want to fight Usyk, I liked our first fight even though I lost

The Briton hopes to win the title one day

British boxer Joe Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs) said he wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and become the world champion. Fight with a New Zealander Joseph Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) will make Joyce an official contender for the WBO belt. which is owned by a Ukrainian.

“I started boxing late when I was 22, so I’m still very fresh. I didn’t have 300 amateur fights, I only had 14 pro fights, so I still have a few more years left.”

“By the end of my career, I want to become a world champion, and I hope that after this fight I will have potential. Usyk is the fight I want. I liked our first fight even though I lost. For 12 rounds, I tried to change the situation.

Earlier, Joyce said that he wanted to take revenge from the Ukrainian for the defeat in the semi-professional World Series of Boxing (WSB), which he suffered in 2013.

An interim heavyweight title will be on the line between Parker and Joyce. Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, who owns the WBO belt, will be required to defend his title with the winner of this fight.

Parker previously held the WBO belt, losing it to Joshua. Now the New Zealander is number two in the rankings. Joyce is number one according to the WBO.

Recall that during the weigh-in ceremony, Joyce was seven and a half kilograms heavier than Parker. The Briton gained weight 123.2 kg (271.6 pounds). Parker also hit a record weight of 115.8 kg (255.4 lb).

The fight between Joyce and Parker will take place on September 24 in Manchester.
