The Kremlin was cleared of charges of violations in the election of the head of the IBA

He was accused of campaigning outside the election period

Interim Nominating Board of the Independent Boxing Integrity Unit (BIIU) Drops Charges Against International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev.

The Russian was accused of violations in the election of the head of the organization – Kremlev was suspected of campaigning outside the election period.

The same charges were received by the main rival of the Kremlin in the elections – the Dutch functionary Boris van der Voorst, as well as a number of other candidates. All of them were not admitted to the elections, unlike the Kremlin.

At the same time, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) granted van der Voorst’s appeal against the decision of the BIIU to prevent him from running for president of the International Boxing Association.

In May, Kremlev was re-elected president of the IBA. He was the only candidate in the elections. Recall that the President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Prodivus joined the Board of Directors of the IBA.

Previously, van der Voorst demanded from the IBA a more decisive response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the disclosure of financial statements under the sponsorship agreement with Russia’s Gazprom.

The IBA is an independent organization that sanctioned boxing at the amateur level. Founded in 1946.
