CSKA Moscow defeated Lokomotiv Moscow in a penalty shootout in their first-round group-stage match of the 2026/2027 Russian Cup, according to a correspondent for Lenta.ru.
The match was played at VEB Arena. Regulation time ended 1-1. CSKA defender Matheus Reis scored the opening goal in the 40th minute. Lokomotiv defender Alexander Silyanov equalized in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. CSKA then won the ensuing penalty shootout.
Bookmakers' pick before kickoff
Bookmakers had earlier named Lokomotiv midfielder Alexei Batrakov as the main candidate to score in the match, setting odds of 3.00 on him finding the net.

In the next round of the Russian Cup, CSKA will host Akron Tolyatti, while Lokomotiv will travel to face Rostov. Both matches are scheduled for August 18.
