A historic event took place in the match between the women’s teams of Benfica and Sporting
In a match between women’s teams Benfica and Sporting in the 1/4 finals of the Portuguese Cup happened historical event – for the first time in a football match was shown white card.
At the end of the first half, the chief referee of the Benfica-Sporting match, Katarina Kampus, showed a white card to representatives of the medical headquarters of both teams. They helped one of the fans, who became ill and needed emergency medical care.
The white card in football is used to recognize and reward clubs for fair play during a match and to promote ethical values in sport.
The Benfica-Sporting match ended with a crushing victory for the Orlov women’s team – 5:0. Benfica will face Famalican in the semi-finals.
