Citizens scored three times in the first half
Manchester city confidently beat Aston Villa in the home match of the 23rd round English Premier League – 3:1.
Even before the break, the hosts removed the question regarding the winner of the meeting. At the very beginning of the match, Rodri, with the filing of Riyad Mahrez, opened the scoring. Ilkay Gundogan increased the advantage of the Citizens, and before the break Mahrez converted a penalty.
In the second half, the guests managed to win back one goal – the goal was scored by Ollie Watkins. But the wards of Pep Guardiola did not allow more, bringing the match to victory.
The Citizens scored 48 points and returned to second place in the Premier League. Aston Villa remains 11th, Birminghams have 28 points.
Guardiola’s team will take on leaders Arsenal on the 15th February away from home. Aston Villa will also play the Gunners at home on 18 February.
