Paris Saint-Germain start their defense of the UEFA Champions League title on Wednesday when they host Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava at Parc des Princes in the opening round of the tournament league phase.
The French club enter the match seeking a return to victory after suffering a defeat against Monaco in their last French league fixture. That domestic loss came against a Monaco side commanded by head coach Filipe Luís, the former Brazil international defender.
PSG manager Luis Enrique aims to guide his side back to winning ways as the Parisian club begin their campaign in Europe premier club competition. The French champions are eager to secure three points in front of their home crowd in Paris after their domestic setback.
Team news and predicted lineups
Luis Enrique has lined up a strong starting XI for the match at Parc des Princes. Matvey Safonov is named in goal, protected by a defensive line of Achraf Hakimi, Illia Zabarnyi, Willian Pacho and Nuno Mendes.
The midfield features Dro Fernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz working to dictate the tempo. In attack, PSG deploy a front three of Ferran Torres, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to lead the forward line.
Slovan Bratislava travel to France under the guidance of manager Yaya Touré, the former Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder. The Slovakian champions earned their spot in the league stage after claiming their domestic league title.
Touré has selected goalkeeper Dominik Takac behind a back four composed of Blackman, Bajric, Wimmer and Sandro Cruz. Cristian Martínez and Pokorny start in central midfield, while Barseghyan, Ibrahim and Camara provide support for striker Sporar.
