The player is not suspended and can play until the situation is fully resolved
Defender of Poznań Lech and the Polish team Bartosz Salamon passed a positive doping test.
The A sample taken from the player after the second leg of the 1/8 finals of the Conference League with Djurgården (3:0) showed the presence of chlorthalidone. The substance does not have a direct effect on the performance of athletes, but is prohibited from use because it can hide traces of doping.
The club will cooperate with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and create an independent expert commission to clarify the circumstances of how the substance got into the player’s body. Until the issue is finally resolved, Salamon is not officially suspended and has the opportunity to fully speak.
The 31-year-old defender has made 13 appearances for Lech in all competitions this season. Salomon, after a long pause, returned to the Polish national team and played in the match with Albania (1: 0) in the selection for Euro 2024.
Lech takes third place in the Polish Ekstraklasa. In the 1/4 finals of the Conference League, Poznań will face Fiorentina.
