Taloverov: The Czech Republic has many individually strong football players, leaders at prime age. Ukraine will have a hard time with this opponent

Maxim spoke about the group of the Ukrainian national team in the League of Nations

Defender of LASK and the Ukrainian youth team Maxim Taloverov in an exclusive comment Sports Arena summed up the results of the group stage draw Nations League 2024/25 and separately assessed the strength Czech national teamwhich will play in the same group with Sergei Rebrov’s team.

– Hi, Max! How would you rate the draw of the Ukrainian national team – the Czech Republic, Georgia, Albania in the Nations League?

– At the level of Division B of the League of Nations there are no weak opponents, all teams are more or less equal. Each team in the group has a chance to both win and lose. In this regard, I would not talk at all about the League of Nations – where the group is stronger, where it is weaker. The selection here is such that there is intrigue everywhere, and in our group it is also maximum.

— What can you say specifically about the Czech team as our opponent?

– They have a lot of great players, including individually strong ones, who play for far from the last clubs in the leading championships. But regarding the Czech Republic as a team… Their coach has changed, Ivan Hasek has been working only since this year. This has its own intrigue – how quickly he will improve his football, how much he will change the national team, because the set of players that the Czechs have allows you to seriously surprise with both tactics and the manner of playing the game.

– Who are the leaders of the Czech national team?

– They have a lot of quality players. Soucek is visible, he plays prominent roles at West Ham. But in Germany there are many high-quality football players from the Czech Republic: Glozek in Bayer, Chvancar in Borussia M, Schick in Bayer. There are a total of five people at the highest level in the Bundesliga. And besides them, there are enough quality players who play in the top 5 leagues and in leading clubs in other championships.

– Do your former teammates from Slavia play in the Czech national team? Who should you pay attention to?

– Many football players are called up from Slavia. Yurechka is a strong attacking footballer. I treat all my former teammates with respect, so I appreciate them highly.

– Will it be difficult for Ukraine against its rival, the Czech Republic?

– Difficult. The Czech Republic has many individually strong football players. Leaders are at prime age, in the prime of their lives. We’ll see how Hasek’s factor works and whether he manages his personnel well. Because a lot in the League of Nations will also depend on this.

The Ukrainian national team will play in Group 1 of Division B of the Nations League. The blue-yellows’ rivals were the Czech Republic, Albania and Georgia. The first matches of the group stage will take place on September 5-7. The final round will take place November 17-19.

Let us remind you that on March 21, Sergei Rebrov’s team will play away against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs. If successful, the Ukrainian team will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation in the qualifying final. The match will be “home” for Ukraine and will take place on March 26.

Recently, LASK bought Taloverov’s contract from Slavia Prague. The Austrian grandee signed a contract with the young Ukrainian until the summer of 2027.
