Rangers announce new deal with coach Clement

The Scots are Dynamo’s rivals in the Champions League qualification

Mentor Rangers Philippe Clement signed a new contract with the club.

The Scots announced a contract that runs until 2028. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Clement was once a Belgian champion with Genk and then won two titles with Club Brugge. The Belgian also worked in Monaco before joining Rangers in October 2023.

However, Clement’s first season with Rangers was not a success. The team finished second in the national championship last season, losing the title to Celtic.

In the national cup, Rangers lost to the same Celtic. In European competitions, Clement’s team was eliminated at the 1/8 final stage of the Europa League, losing to Benfica.

Rangers are Dynamo Kyiv’s opponents in the third qualifying round of the 2024/25 Champions League. The home match for the Kyivans will take place in Lublin, Poland, at the Lublin Arena on Tuesday, August 6. The match kicks off at 20:00 local time (21:00 Kyiv time). The return match will take place in Glasgow a week later, on August 13.

If Dynamo beats Rangers, it will be seeded in the playoff round. Kyiv’s potential opponents at this stage are the winners of the Lille-Fenerbahce or Salzburg-Twente duels.
