Bartulovich: Unfortunately, we didn’t put the squeeze on Krivbass. Annoying defeat

According to the Croatian specialist, his team conceded “out of the blue”, and then their execution let them down

Mentor Zari Mladen Bartulovich commented on his team’s defeat from Krivbassa (0:1) in the 10th round Ukrainian Premier League.

“It’s a very disappointing defeat for us. If we had scored first, perhaps there would also have been more opportunities to play on counterattacks, as Kryvbas did. We started the game well, there were moments that needed to be realized. They scored a goal for themselves out of the blue. Then it got hard. The opponent went into deep defense. We tried to equalize the score, but we couldn’t do it.”

“We have very great potential, and, as you have seen, our physical fitness is at a decent level. Unfortunately, we didn’t put the finishing touches on Krivbass. An unfortunate defeat…”

“In my opinion, we entered the second half well. We had a chance, but didn’t score. And the opponent realized his episode. I repeat – we brought it ourselves. It was unexpected. It took ten minutes to come to our senses. Then we took control of the ball, created chances, but our execution let us down.”

“When we conceded, they had space and chances appeared. We have very fast players, we try to play with high-speed flanks, but there were moments where we also had good counterattacks. I don’t think we lost to Krivbass in speed.”

“My partner is sick. Benito played 30 minutes. We expected more pressure from him ahead. Today he didn’t have a chance because Krivbass played very compactly in defense.”

Let us remind you that Krivbass got three points in a nominally away match thanks to an accurate shot by Daniel Sosa at the beginning of the second half. The Lugansk team had a chance to win back, but failed to do so.

The victory allowed the Krivoy Rog team to overtake Zorya in the standings. Bartulovich’s team lost the fourth of their last five matches and dropped to 8th place.

In the next round, Zarya will play away against Left Bank on October 27.
