We already know the circuit in Miami, after all, the practice and qualifying prior to today’s Grand Prix is behind us, but if there’s a chance to drive it with Niko Hulkenberg in an Aston Martin Vantage sports car, why bother? then don’t take it?
So the reserve driver of the legendary British manufacturer’s factory team, a racer with 181 Grand Prix experience, drives around the track, telling about the features along the way…
Nico Hulkenberg: “Okay, we’re approaching the first corner, and it’s quite busy here in the braking zone as well as in the corner itself. It is important to immediately reach the apex very accurately and then correctly overcome the smooth and fast chicane (2nd and 3rd turns). To maintain the speed here it is important that the car has a good balance.
After that, the track widens a bit and you can get the car closer to the outer edge. The track turns right again and we are approaching the next fast chicane – it must be a lot of fun to watch from the cockpit of a Formula 1 car.
Carefully up the curb, and then with full throttle we pass the 6th bend. The 7th left turn is very long, it doesn’t end in any way and then it narrows too.
Lightly touch the curb and accelerate again! This is where the next section begins, which must be passed at full speed, this is where the DRS zone is located. We pass this entire stretch at full throttle, although there are bends here. We are going very fast and approaching the intensive braking zone – there are three on this track.
Then comes the stadium part, which reminds me a bit of the track in Mexico City, because there are the grandstands all around and the spectators on both sides of the track. This is a narrow and winding section, certainly the most technically difficult.
At the exit of this very narrow chicane, the track goes up… Ha, I’m having a good time here! Then we leave for the reverse straight line and accelerate again. Here you have to accelerate early and get out of this bend (16th) well, because behind it starts a very long straight.
It is necessary to accelerate well, this allows one to catch up and also regain for a while. Here we go very fast! Then we brake hard… This is probably the best point to overtake. Then we overcome the last fast chicane and complete our circle on the new circuit in Miami. I hope you liked it!”
