Alex Albon: Doctors asked me to turn off the TV

According to Alex Albon, he is feeling fine after surgery and related complications and is ready to return to the wheel of a Williams car. However, he made a reservation that as highway taxes in Singapore are very high, one should be prepared for any event development.

Alex Albon: “I feel like I’m ready to race and I’m in good shape now. To achieve this, nearly two previous weeks were spent on training. But let’s see how I will handle the burden because we are realists and we understand that the Singapore Grand Prix is the most difficult race. This must be remembered.

But in general I feel good, I practiced on the kart track and everything was fine. I feel no pain.

In the hospital I woke up half an hour before the start of the race after all the surgeries and had the chance to watch the Italian Grand Prix. Of course, I was upset that I had to watch the events on the track from the hospital room, and every now and then my heart rate went up, so at one point I was asked to turn off the TV.

On Friday I realized that our car is doing fine on the track in Monza, but on Saturday morning we had to decide whether to take risks or not, and we made the right decision (refusing to participate in the weekend program).

Nick de Vries has of course replaced me well. We knew we had to do well in the race and he earned some points – this is obviously an important result for our team.

I don’t think we will be that competitive in Singapore, although we surprised ourselves on some routes this year. This city ring is not like Monza at all, there are a lot of corners and more downforce is needed, but we will try to perform as well as possible.
