Max Verstappen could secure the 2022 title this weekend. In response to questions from reporters in Singapore on Thursday, the Red Bull Racing driver reaffirmed that he was trying not to be distracted by thoughts about the situation in the championship.
Max Verstappen: “The priority is a successful weekend. It will be great to win the title here, but I’m not thinking about it at all.
Winning the championship in 2022 will be no different for me than last year’s title. We had a few retirements at the start of the season, but then the team showed its strength. We were quick to respond to the issues that arose and squeezed the most out of most races, but there are still areas where we can add more.
This weekend I don’t have a new chassis – it’s the same as in Monza. In the last leg, the team and I joked that I would finish second with a chassis like that, but since I won the race, we decided to keep it.”
