Lewis Hamilton led the protocol for the first practice in Singapore, but he is in a realistic mood…
George Russell (3rd): “I don’t know how much we lose here. We need to check the data, it seemed to me that Charles had his best lap on Medium. I don’t know what the problems were with Red Bull. Third place is a good result, but we haven’t seen the whole picture.
The track is very bumpy, which further improves the build-up. Everyone is affected by this problem to a greater or lesser extent, and our car has this weakness.
A lot depends on the tires. I think this is one of those phases where we can play a lot in qualifying, if we do everything right. And the fate of this race is often decided on Saturday. We remain optimistic and continue to work.”
Lewis Hamilton (5th): “In the first practice everything started well, in the second we were behind – like most weekends this season. The car remains the same, has serious problems with build-up. We are about a second behind the leaders and working through.
We can’t do much with the build. Everything is as it is. George got better balance in the second practice and I couldn’t get a clean lap – with the settings selected the brakes were often locked, but we will fix everything tonight so we can do better tomorrow.”
