Valtteri Bottas set the seventh fastest time in the second practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix and is optimistic about his chances of reaching the qualifying final. His teammate Alfa Romeo Guanyu Zhou showed the fifteenth result and is also hoping for a successful performance.
Valtteri Bottas (7th): “Positive Friday – we completed the planned program without any problems and did a lot of laps. We have a good pace – it’s nice to see that we can qualify for the qualifying finals again.
It was interesting to go to the Singapore circuit for the first time in a new generation car. The track feels bumpy, but I expected big problems. I like flying on this runway – I enjoyed it.
There is no doubt that we have the opportunity to add tomorrow. It is crucial to understand the difference in speed between different tire compounds, but we have started the weekend well and can build on the work done today.”
Guanyu Zhou (15th): “Overall, the day went off without a hitch – a good start to the weekend. Tomorrow we have to take the next step forward and then we can have a good qualifying.
It was interesting to evaluate the Singapore circuit for the first time in extreme weather conditions. The track is very difficult, you don’t have the opportunity to catch your breath, because the corners follow each other, and they are all difficult, but interesting. The heat and humidity only make it harder, but I was prepared for it. China has a similar climate, but I have not lived in such conditions for a long time.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s qualifying. I have a special race ahead of me – my family came to the track and there are many Chinese fans in the stands.
