The Miami race was the first of the season in which the AlphaTauri team scored no points. The best result was Yuki Tsunoda’s twelfth place. Fernando Alonso first crashed into Pierre Gasly and then Gasly himself collided with Lando Norris. The Frenchman tried to continue the race, but mechanical damage forced him to return to the pits.
Yuki Tsunoda (12th): “I am very disappointed with today’s result. On the first lap I had problems with the pace and I was overtaken by several cars. In the rest of the race I couldn’t recoup the losses.
I’m happy with how my confidence in the car has gradually grown since the first practice. That’s why I’m disappointed that we performed so poorly today.”
Pierre Gasly (retirement): “A very disappointing result, because before the collision with Fernando Alonso the race went well, but the car was damaged. Unfortunately the car was so badly damaged that it was difficult for me to stay on track, so on the way to the pits I hit Lando Norris’s car.
However, there were also positive moments in the race. I started confidently and the car had a fairly fast pace. However, we are disappointed with today’s result.”
