In Singapore, both Ferrari drivers took the podium for the first time since the Miami Grand Prix – Charles Leclerc finished second and Carlos Sainz third. Monegask admitted that the fate of the race was decided at the start when he let Sergio Perez do his thing due to wheel slip.
Charles Leclerc (2nd): “I attacked the whole race. However, a bad start put me in the overtaking role – after that it was very difficult to fight in the race. In the beginning I had a slight slip of the wheels, which prevented me from driving normally.
Physically, the race turned out to be tough. I need to sleep well and prepare for the podium in Japan.”
Carlos Sainz (3rd): “The race turned out to be very tough. On a wet track I could never find a rhythm – there were problems with the rear tires so I couldn’t compete with the two leaders.
I had enough speed to keep second. The good news is that I didn’t make any mistakes and got the car to the finish. In the last laps I was fast because I felt confident in the car.
A good result for the team and for our position in the Constructors’ Championship. Too bad we didn’t win.”
