Pierre Gasly finished tenth in Singapore – with one earned point, AlphaTauri overtook Haas in the Constructors’ Championship. However, the Italian team dropped to ninth place as they were both overtaken by rivals from Aston Martin.
Yuki Tsunoda did not earn points in the eleventh race in a row, causing the car to crash.
Pierre Gasly (10th): “I am very disappointed with the race – not the result we should have shown. I had a great race – behind Lando Norris but ahead of both McLaren drivers, but we took too many risks and pitted early, losing a few positions.
I do not quite understand why such a decision was made – we need to study everything and draw conclusions from this mistake. There is no doubt that many points were lost today, which is very disappointing given our struggles in the Constructors’ Championship. We had the chance to regain the positions, but we couldn’t use it.”
Yuki Tsunoda (retirement): “Today the track conditions were difficult – it was difficult to determine the moment of transition from intermediate tires to slicks. We crossed too early so it was very difficult to drive the car. But then I started to win back time, which looked positive.
Unfortunately I was wrong – I missed the braking point and crashed into the wall. I am frustrated by my actions. I have to analyze the past weekend and prepare for the home race in Japan next week. I’m looking forward to driving with Suzuka in Formula 1 for the first time.”
