Russian athletes refused to sign a special document, according to which they condemn the policy of Russia. Otherwise, athletes are not allowed to participate in international competitions.
“In our opinion, the content of the document is political in nature and violates the principles of equal conditions for athletes. We consider it impossible for us to sign such documents and participate in competitions under such conditions. The choice is obvious – we are always with our homeland, especially when it is in a difficult situation,” the press release read.
