The track in Suzuka is made in the shape of an eight, the number of left and right turns is approximately equal – the load on the tires, although very high, is balanced. Pirelli has chosen the hardest rubber compounds for the Japanese Grand Prix, but in the second practice session on Friday, which will last an hour and a half, the teams will get to work with other compounds.
Mario Isola, Pirelli: “Ask drivers about their favorite track and they will definitely name Suzuka. The track features tricky corners that you won’t find anywhere else – the 130R and Spoon are as unique as the Japanese fans.
The load on tires in Suzuka is one of the highest during the season, so we will include the heaviest compounds. The new generation machines are heavier than the old ones, their efficiency is constantly increasing, so this weekend the load will be particularly high.
This year we will be testing prototype tires for 2023 during our second practice session, completing the development of tires for next season.”
