Sebastien Buemi will continue to drive in Formula E in the coming years, but will switch to another team: the 33-year-old Swiss driver has signed a multi-year contract with Envision Racing.
In the ninth season of the electric series, when Formula E moves to the next generation of cars (Gen3), he becomes Nick Cassidy’s new teammate.
Buemi is one of the most experienced drivers in the championship and has been in Formula E since its inception since 2014, all the while working in the Renault/Nissan factory programs, which were implemented by the French e.dams team . In 2016, he won the electric series title with a total of 13 wins, 29 podiums and 14 pole positions.
Sébastien Buemi: “This is an interesting time in the history of Formula E and I want to start next season with Envision Racing as soon as possible. I have always treated this team with great respect and I think they have done an excellent job over the years and achieved growth in results.
The transition to Gen3 vehicles is very important for our sport as it is a new challenge as these machines are faster, lighter and more powerful. My goal is to be at the forefront, so I’m looking forward to the upcoming tests and preparing for the first race of the season, which will be held in Mexico City.”
