Alex Albon: Loads in Miami similar to Singapore

At Miami, Alex Albon earned points for the second time this season, allowing Williams to narrow the Constructors’ Championship gap to three points with Aston Martin. After the finish, the rider said that the team compared his result with the podium, but Alex himself does not want to overestimate his ninth place.

Alex Albon: “When I entered the room with the engineers for the post-race briefing, they all started saying that the result is comparable to the podium. To this I answered them: “No, this is not a stage at all!”

The team knows the areas where we are not good enough and in general we have a weak car. However, it is clear that the car is just as fast in certain corners as it is in others. The track in Miami was theoretically not ours, but at one point in the first practice I even finished in second place.

Alex noted that the Miami race proved to be physically demanding, even comparing it to the Singapore stage: “You know, my balaclava actually turned red with hair. From the outside it may look like I was beheaded on the track!

The race turned out to be very physically demanding. Taxes are similar to those we experience in Singapore. I attacked all the way and closer to the finish it was really difficult.

The hardest part was when the safety car left the track. When you’re flying at the limit, you don’t feel any of the adrenaline, but when you had to slow down and just keep the tires warm, it felt like you were doing strength exercises at the gym. However, we are athletes and are used to this.
