Andreas Seidl: Tough fight ahead

In Singapore, the McLaren team returned to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship – and hopes to gain a foothold in this position…

Andreas Seidli, team leader: “It’s great to be back in Japan. It’s only been a few days since Singapore and we look forward to continuing. Japanese fans are incredibly emotional, we are waiting for another clear weekend.

Suzuka has a tough job, but Lando and Daniel are well prepared for the second round of the Asian Dual Series. Everyone on the team understands that there is an uphill battle ahead for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. We saw in Singapore that the situation can change in just one weekend, we have to focus on keeping it under control in the remaining races.

Lando Norris: “I’m happy to be back in Japan after a three-year hiatus. This is the second round of the Asian series of two Grand Prix, it started in Singapore where the fans were great and I’m sure it will be the same in Suzuka. We are waiting for a stage on an interesting circuit, let’s see what it will bring.

In Singapore, we had an excellent result, earning points with two cars in difficult conditions. We will continue to fight and strive for progress in the five remaining races.”

Daniel Riccardo: “I’m looking forward to riding the Suzuka round this weekend, especially after a good result in Singapore. We did well in difficult conditions, earning points with two cars. It’s nice to see the hard work of the team paying off.

The Japanese fans always support us passionately, after an interesting weekend in Singapore, another exciting race awaits us. I’m looking forward to the new products on my car as they worked great for Lando last weekend. The progress of the team should help us to achieve even better results in the remaining races.”
