Alfa Romeo is optimistic about the Japanese round

Alfa Romeo has prepared the latest innovations of this season for the Japanese stage, the team takes seventh place in the constructors’ championship and hopes to keep it until the end of the season…

Frederic Vasseur, team leader: “Singapore behind, for the second leg of the series of two Asian Grand Prix. We haven’t raced at Suzuka since 2019, I’m happy to be back on a historic track where there have been some interesting battles in the past.

The weekend in Singapore was tough for us. Despite a decent performance, we didn’t earn any points, but we are optimistic about the next stage as we showed a great pace on Friday. Together with the new products we will receive in Japan, this should be a good starting point for us to be successful in the race.”

Valtteri Bottas: “I’m happy to be back with Suzuka after a three-year hiatus – it has an incredible atmosphere and fantastic fans. I look back fondly on the 2019 event, which I won, and I was on the podium the year before.

Last week in Singapore was not our day – it was a shame to finish one step away from the top ten. We have shown a good pace, the team has prepared novelties – I hope we will be in the top ten from the start of the weekend.”

Guanyu Zhou: “In anticipation of another race week and a new track to master. I am very happy to be in Suzuka, on one of the most iconic circuits.

It’s a shame for me that the Singapore race ended early due to someone else’s mistake, because the car was fast. On a dry track we were competitive, which makes us optimistic. I hope we have more luck with the weather in Suzuka.

The team is preparing new items for this stage, so if we do well in qualifying, we can count on success in the race.
