This Sunday at Suzuka, Max Verstappen can guarantee himself the title in the individual competition. On the eve of the Japanese Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing driver said he would do everything in his power to achieve such a result.
Max Verstappen: Finally we return to Japan after a long break – I can’t wait to play in Suzuka again. I love Japan and have many fond memories of it. There is a delicious kitchen and special fans – very nice and polite.
This weekend I have another chance to win the title in the individual competition. To do this you need to have a perfect weekend – this is achievable, so we will give everything.
Suzuka is an old school track with lots of fast corners that you get used to in every session. Let’s see how the weather plays out, but I’ve heard rain is possible, which could sharpen the battle.
Sergio Perez: “Suzuk has a unique track, especially the first sector, which I consider to be one of the best in the world. You have to steer very precisely on the terrain until the 11th corner to show a good lap time. But if you overdo it, you can spoil the result.
You have to take a lot of risks on this track – there are no wide relegation zones, so if you make a mistake everything goes wrong very quickly. A great combination that Suzuka has.
Unfortunately I didn’t get on the podium at this track, but it will be great to do it next Sunday. My best memories of Japan are with the fans, so I want to make them and Honda happy this weekend.”
