Daniil Kvyat Prepares for His NASCAR Xfinity Series Debut

This weekend, Daniil Kvyat will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the US. We can say that it will be something like a second debut for the Russian racer as he had his first race in NASCAR in July, but Xfinity is the second division of the popular touring car championship, attended mainly by lesser-known racers.

But it is interesting that in the stage, which will be held at the oval track in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kvyat will also compete in the NASCAR Cup Series race.

For him, this will be the first experience of working with the Sam Hunt Racing team.

Daniil Kvyat: “It’s great to start this weekend in the Xfinity Series for the first time. My journey in NASCAR continues, and of course it is wonderful. Negotiations with Sam Hunt’s team about a possible collaboration started a few weeks ago and I am very happy that everything worked out.

It will be useful for me as I am also preparing for the Cup Series race at this track. It’s very interesting to participate in this, and let’s see what we can do. As usual there will be few opportunities to train, but we will try to work as efficiently as possible.

The preparations are going really well, we did some laps in the simulator and also spent a lot of time on the team base with Sam and Allen, the head of the race team. We have a good plan for further preparations and I look forward to getting started.

My expectations are: start on the track, do some laps and have a good race, and then we’ll see what we can achieve. This will be my first race in the Xfinity Series and it’s the first time I’ve ever been in a manual transmission with an H-shift pattern, so there’s still a lot to learn.

You have to learn it along the way, but it’s always interesting. This team has been doing well all season, they have a fast car and I am looking forward to working with Sam Hunt Racing in Charlotte.”

Sam Hunt’s team has been competing in the Xfinity series since 2019 and Daniil will have to drive his #26 Toyota GR Supra.
