On a rainy Friday, Williams gave the drivers a chance to feel comfortable on the track, and the team will work with the settings tomorrow – on dry surfaces…
Nicholas Latific (12th): “Today I sailed in Suzuka for the first time – I liked it. Learning a new track is always easier in dry conditions – you find your way and don’t worry about the car starting to slide. But in Suzuka and in the rain, good grip – I can only imagine what it will be like on a dry road tomorrow.
I don’t know if today’s experience will be useful for us over the weekend, rain is also possible on Sunday, but the chances are slim. In general I am happy with today, there were no serious problems and tomorrow we should get the most out of the car on a dry track.”
Alex Albon (13th): “Even in the rain this track is great, I really enjoyed it! It’s hard to feel the car on a wet track, but we were very competitive. Let’s see what the alignment of forces will be tomorrow, on dry road surface. The goal is to get into the second part of qualifying.”
