In the rain on Friday the Alpine riders were fast and in the morning Fernando Alonso led the protocol…
Fernando Alonso (7th): “I’m happy to be back in Suzuka, Friday went well. The rain did not contribute to fruitful work, but I especially felt sorry for the fans who were outside for a long time. Honestly, I prefer dry weather.
Today the car was fine in both sessions, it’s nice to have the best time in the first practice. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. Let’s see what the results will be on a dry track.”
Esteban Ocon (9th): “It’s great to be back with Suzuka after a long break. I missed this track and was able to test this year’s car on it today.
As the weather forecast promised, it rained during the day, but we managed to ride more than we originally expected. The car performed well in both sessions, we gathered important information. I got the most out of the only set of intermediate tires and now I’m looking forward to Saturday’s dry weather and a good qualifying.”
