Sergio Perez came to Suzuka as the winner of the last Grand Prix and told how important the win in Singapore is for him after several failed races…
Sergio Perez: “I went through a difficult period, but I worked hard during the break for Singapore and had contact with the engineers every day. I was at the base, I really wanted to return to the previous results – and we were able to figure it out in many ways. Now I hope to finish the season with dignity and perform at a high level.
The win in Singapore was special. We rarely perform in such difficult conditions, the battle was not easy physically and mentally. Behind the safety car, the slicks cooled, leaving wet spots on the track.
My engineer Hugh Bird rightly made it to the podium. A few weeks before that, we had worked hard and deserved this success. It’s nice to realize that you’ve overcome the difficulties.
