On Saturday, Alpine confirmed the team lineup for 2023 – Pierre Gasly will be Esteban Okon’s partner. Sports directors told why they decided to sign a contract with the French rider.
Otmar Safnauer, Team Principal: “I am very happy that Pierre will join the team in 2023 and will drive for us in the coming years. He has already proven himself in Formula 1 and we look forward to working together.
The team has several goals for the coming seasons and I am sure that the driver line-up perfectly reflects our ambitions. I am sure that Pierre and Esteban together motivate the team to make progress towards the targets set.
We are grateful to Red Bull for agreeing to the terms that allowed Pierre to take this step.”
Laurent Rossic, Alpine CEO: “I am delighted to welcome Pierre to the Alpine family. He is a talented and motivated driver who will contribute to our goals in Formula 1. Pierre is a perfect match for the ambition and progress that characterize the Alpine project.
Despite his youth, Pierre is already an experienced and successful racer. His development path coincides with ours and we look forward to further joint growth.”
Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault: “We are proud to present the all-French team for 2023. Our roots are in France, Alpine is from Normandy, so this combination of team and drivers can be considered a lucky coincidence.
Both riders will lead the team and the company forward and I hope we will become a symbol of French pride.”
