This season Alex Albon returned to Formula 1 after a one-year hiatus, now a Londoner of Thai descent plays for Williams and has already earned three points. By the standards of the Grove team, this is a very good start to the season and there are high expectations for Albon.
Apparently, the team immediately fell in love with him, and after the Miami Grand Prix, the Williams press service published a funny text dedicated to Alex, which deserves to be quoted in its entirety. But we have to start with the fact that a month ago the racer appeared in the paddock of the Melbourne Albert Park, surprised everyone with a copper-red hair color, and in the same weekend he opened the scoring for earned points.
We all know that after our man Alex Albon showed up in the Melbourne paddock with his hair in bright red, his business is going uphill.
It all started with his visit to an orphanage in Thailand, where more than 2,500 children live. Two of them turned out to be fans of the Liverpool football club, so they had red T-shirts and hair of the same color.
These guys asked our rider if they could dye his hair red too, and Alex naturally agreed.
He then finished 10th in Australia and 11th in Imola, then bet the team that if he scored points in Miami, everyone would have to dye their hair red too.
He took 9th place and now we have to either take back our words or start looking for a suitable paint.
And then we thought, what else has changed in Alex Albon’s world after he changed his hair color? Today we bring Williams fans the full list of those changes.
1. His wave level has improved significantly.
In the Formula 1 paddock, golf is quickly becoming the second most popular sport, but we know Alex started playing it long before anyone else.
His girlfriend, professional golfer Lily He, has nothing to worry about yet, but as far as you can see, Albon is already catching up with her on the game. Chance? We don’t think.
2. He’s No Longer “Mr. Forgetful”
Alex has a reputation for forgetting everything. Even on the very first day, when he first appeared on our team in January, we almost had to shake the bins looking for the keys he had left somewhere.
George Russell immediately warned us to make a duplicate key for the entrance to the Williams base in Grove for Alex. According to our former rider, “Alex loses everything, it’s just a nightmare.”
We can confidently say that after that visit to Thailand, he didn’t lose anything and didn’t forget anyone’s birthday.
3. It works great with tires
Our redhead rider was nicknamed “The Tire Whisperer” after an incredibly long stint on a single set of Hard at Albert Park to score his first points of the 2022 season.
He was back on the hard tires of the C2 compound for the second part of the distance in Miami, and we were not even surprised that he did 41 laps this time. Remember: once someone has become a “Tire Whisperer”, it is for life, not just one Grand Prix.
4. Points are rewarded
Anyone who follows Alex’s activities on social networks knows that he and his sisters have a whole zoo at home. And if he finishes in the top ten, all furry pets are sure to get a treat.
5. Now he likes meeting sponsors and the press.
Anyone who has followed Alex’s career even briefly knows that he tries to avoid any job related to marketing. But after dyeing his hair red, he became more willing to respond to these kinds of proposals.
Interview? You can prepare your questions, he’s really enjoying the interview right now – right, Alex? Please tell me it’s true. Please.
