Yuki Tsunoda (13th): “I’m quite happy with today. Compared to the morning practice we made a step forward, but due to problems with the brakes we couldn’t achieve more. In the first session I allowed a serious block and in the second I didn’t feel confident in the car.
It’s great to see so many fans in team uniforms, in caps with my name, cheering me on at every turn – it gave me strength. Conditions can be changeable in the race, if the opportunity arises we will do everything we can to recoup it.”
Pierre Gasly (17th): “I’m upset. Before qualifying we replaced the front left brake disc and in the pit lap I was behind a large group of cars and couldn’t warm up the brakes. As soon as I touched the pedal, the brakes immediately locked, so I couldn’t be any harder.
I’m starting way behind, hoping for rain. Our car is very efficient on wet roads, I think changeable conditions suit us better.”
